Well, shit. I mean, I've been buying burner phones when crossing to the US since several years ago, just because I do am afraid of getting mugged and losing everything while traveling, and since every trip to the US has been for vacati

How would the border agents know it's a wiped device? Because it's missing everything and seems like a new phone? What if I actually bought a new cheap phone because I'm afraid of getting robbed abroad, and even tell the agen

Since Conway's Life is Turing Complete (IIRC), it would be theoretically possible for someone to write a compiler for it, no? This seems obviously very hard, but since this seems to be catching up, how long until someone decides it

Really? Wow. Do you have some links for this? I did not know that and I'm not sure why would you get jail time for that. I mean, what is the rationale? Is it about somehow preventing transfer from a legal market to an unregulated one?

Lately I've been thinking... however improbable this is, what if we are the first intelligent species in the Universe? I mean, not saying that because I think we are special, but just wondering what would it mean if we were "the f

This is really cool! However... I might be a bit obtuse or something, but how can I produce my own videos? Maybe I'm overlooking a link?

I agree that it should help reduce the amount of mistakes. But I still believe auto-pilot mode is a real thing (and a danger!) . My point is that I'm not sure if it's even possible to design one that actually cuts errors to 0. And

Not sure if even that would work. I've almost deleted my heroku production server even though you need to type (or copy paste....ahem...) the full server name (e.g. thawing-temple-23345). I think the reason was that because in my mind

I know this is probably an obvious advice here on HN, but one of the things that I feel has given me sense of purpose (and in turn motivation thanks to that) was starting my own company. Now, of course that might not be suitable for you rig

This seems like working on a similar space as loopback.io, is this correct? if not, how would you compare the two? I ask because I'm currently using LB for a project and while I actually like it a lot I always like to be aware of alter

Then that would require a breakthrough in FHE no? I believe current implementations would be way too slow for this. Or is there another way to outsource computation in a secure manner?

I would guess that just getting a random problem to solve might not be appealing to all devs. On the other hand, maybe some people are having problems that may have already a close-enough solution so that why would I want to build yet anoth

Ahhh... the memories. In the 90s I met this guy in IRC that used Delphi 2 to program a RAT called Hacker's Paradise. He was very kind with me (I was much younger than him apparently) and shared the source code so I could learn from it
