I think there's several different underlying causes to Windows feeling more secure (not needing antivirus) these days: 1. Security on desktops has been improved quite a bit. You can no longer simply email someone a .exe file that'

It's surprising to see so many on HN agree with a 4 work week. As a programmer, I will definitely get more done in a 5 day week than in a 4 day week. I assume manufacturing jobs will need to be 5 days or America will be even less compe

I think these predictions are way too safe, to the point that they aren't predictions at all. These are all very widely accepted views already (in the tech community / HN atleast) which explains why this comment is top currently.

I feel you here, but it's up to tech leads / Sr. Engineers to push back on management bullshit like this because otherwise the commit messages aren't the only thing in that culture that'll make an engineer miserable. My

Haha, I think it can be tastefully done. Of course, the PC shouldn't look like a Unicorn puking rainbows, but I'm a fan of having a glass panel that shows off components with some subtle single / dual color lighting. So yeah,

I bit the bullet and upgraded from 4670k + DDR3 --> X570 Mobo + R5 3700X. Costs ~$500 assuming you can keep your GPU, PSU, Case, fans etc. and you don't want to go all our RGB on everything.

I'm honestly pretty cynical about EU laws these days. All they're designed to do is to whack around American tech companies until they cough up $X bn for their coffers. Not that America is any better these days, NJ recently decide

From Q3 results, it sounded like the company was profitable just on ride-sharing itself and was losing a ton of money on eats + cargo + autonomous vehicles R&D. I wonder what a fair valuation would be for just the ride-sharing business
