Anyone have links to copyright lawyers discussing this? The few I follow online haven't picked up on it. I can't imagine that selling your financial interest in some legal proceeding generally voids your actionable claim and that

Finally read all the the text and most appendices (skipped the definition of terms at the end). Overall I think that this report is very long but unfortunately difficult to process. In the end it, in compliance with its charge, does not pro

The number of people in this comment thread who have not read this report in detail is outstandingly large. It is a 100+ page document and I've been reading it for longer than this link has been active and I still haven't finished

(Offtopic) Is this a common idiom? I've never heard pan of bacon as the end of this kind of phrase before.

[2] in above was a very impressive talk. Mr. Goodspeed appears quite comfortable on stage, although I think his 'antiforensics' was somewhat less interesting than the notion of exploiting the fact that so many USB drivers exist an

This is a ridiculous line of argument. Let me re-contextualize with a parallel scenario. Suppose you are the victim of any of crime. Suppose your teenage daughter is the one who actually called the police. Suppose the perpetrator of the cr

Nope. Certain elements of evidence are routinely kept secret from the public at trials and may be kept under judicial seal.

Pretty cool result. I'd wonder what the performance would be with ~150 lb of batteries, motors and electronic sensors/controllers instead of a human. I wonder if given the same mechanics of this system a human is the optimal motor

Kinda interesting but I wonder if it is normalized at all for the yelp review density in a given area. See xkcd: http://xkcd.com/1138/ as I draw some unusual correlations in the Boston maps.

This is not a particularly accurate title. MIT could release the records at any point (they are MITs to do with whatever they please), and in fact already committed to do so once redaction had occurred. MIT actually expressly opposes in thi

Some actual reporting on this issue besides just the letter from the MIT President can be found at http://tech.mit.edu/V133/N13/swartz.html Apparently JSTOR also supports redaction: " JSTOR’s response was similar to MIT’s. “We believe the

Everything else that has ever been said indicates that the report will be out in 2013. If you look carefully , (;)) you can find some Abelson quotes on the web discussing this.

+1. The blog author saying there is no clear trend in his random blob of points is misleading. The trend is there, it is just difficult to tell the density of points in his scatter plot because of the marker size and plot size.

As a member of the MIT community, I honestly do not feel very bad about how MIT (Administration) handled this situation. MIT's tradition of careful and thoughtful rule breaking clearly recognizes that rules will be enforced and that the pol
