Really? They should be grateful that they look to still have jobs. If Apple or Microsoft or Google bought them, a bunch of them would have been laid off.

I'd like to point out that Mark Hendrickson, CEO of Plancast, was previously a TC hacker. If you have a half-decent idea, expect the TC brand to help you get networked. Oh, and you're guaranteed to get multiple hits of positive coverage i

There's a reason that the standard equity vesting schedule is four years with a one year cliff. Great people will stick around if they feel that their equity is valuable even if they can get more cash/benefits/perks/responsibility/credit/f

That's what Palm thought, and their shitty, unreliable hardware has helped to kill their company (in addition to the woefully late SDK).

I'm not sure it was that hard to be like, "you know what, I'll do Farecast for sports and concerts" as an idea. It's the execution that impresses me, but the idea was obvious the day Farecast proved that you could pull it off.

I get into this in some level of detail in the presentation, but the PVP mechanic of leaderboards inhibits new players/users because it's another barrier to entry. Remember why Digg killed their leaderboard - you end up with a hypercompe

Sigh. "The most important aspect of this laptop is its display. It has a 1920 x 1200 15.4” TFT LCD." The new 15" MBPs max out 1680x1050 even with the additional option.

Are there any chips out there that do hardware decoding of VP8? That's a critical path item to get Apple on board - they've learned from Nintendo; battery life is too precious to sacrifice for a mere codec.

The Fortune 400 are generally people who found an early niche and exploited it in a way that created barriers to entry. That could be in software, but it could be in dominating natural resources in a country, government-sanctioned monopoli

Did you e-mail the developers before posting this? I mean, it's really kind of mean to post something like this without trying to resolve your issues with the developers directly first. In this case, Jay happened to be around to respond,
