Yes. This is my point. Recorded music is top of funnel. Other stuff that drives people to that conversion moment where they buy the $600 ticket for the live show. An artist brand is part of that “stuff in between”.

Not so much - to steal from marketing, recorded music is a top of funnel acquisition activity. Live performance is bottom of funnel conversion. And, in fact, there are plenty of folk who go to live music events because they want to be at a

Strange Article. 1. Record labels will become more relevant than ever - by specialising and becoming experts in very specific niches they will be able to amplify artists better than ever, owning audiences and data to ensure that they become

As someone who has ADHD and suffers a lot from forgetting to cancel subscriptions etc this would be really really good. I used to set several calendar reminders each quarter. One to sit down and work out what subscriptions I have. Another o

I don’t think that’s a good indicator of popularity. Most people are going to be searching for “how to do X” with the product name to refine results. Excel is more complex, so likely has more of those sorts of search queries.

Maybe open a restaurant. I get - loosely - what you are saying. I loosely applaud your sentiment. But at the same time I am somewhat gobsmacked by how glib it is. I worked in the restaurant trade. I have many friends who still do. It is tou

Motley Fool is really awful. Every article is just click bait trying to get people into their sales funnel.

I’m interested that you say the artist gets more royalties. How does that work?

Well, quite! But then I pretty much assumed it was a shorthand amongst peers so (over) explanation perhaps wasn’t really necessary...

A few hundred fans is a LOT though. I think a lot of people outside music significantly underestimate how hard it is to get to “a few hundred fans” and how much time, budget, talent and sheer luck that takes. In real terms acquiring 100 fan

User centric payments are a big debate in the industry just now. Deezer has been trialling this. As some people below have said it may or may not be the answer - the jury is out. Chances are it would have a smallish benefit to smaller music

I’ve used iwantmyname.com for years and am very happy with them. I’ve got around 50 domains in there but have managed as many as 150 through them before. Good support when I’ve needed it and simple but powerful interface.

I worked with some slightly crazy businessmen who were tricked by an out-of-work “domain name consultant” into putting in an application for some new gTLDs. They got one, and cashed out another application to let someone else take it which
