What a horrible story, but sadly not surprising to me anymore. UK Border Control: a uniformly hostile and spiteful organisation.

Probably not (yet). Music has the added complexity of being smeared across time, which I think will be a lot harder to crack. It would be fun though, to pass a Garth Brookes track through a Deathspell Omega filter.

I'll accept it's possible the claims are (mostly) real, but with other 'interested parties' jumping on to stir up shit. As you said, a false dichotomy.

Is CouchDB still alive? I spent a weekend playing with it in January, but it seemed to be a very quiet project, with the last stable release being almost two years ago.

Agreed, 80-chars may be an accident of history, but it's an accident which happens to line up quite well with the human eyes ability to track horizontal lines of text. It gets tiring listening to devs rage about the 80-char limit, then

Perl is brutally under-rated as a scripting tool these days. I suppose it's passed into software orthodoxy by this point, the notion that perl is a uniformly horrific tool akin to nuclear waste.

When I tried to read Antifragile his style seemed rambling and incoherent, darting back and forth between concepts and obtuse metaphors, like a tirade from the coked-up conspiracy nut at every party. I may need to give it another shot.
