Personally I wish they sold a version without the camera and speakers. I already have those. A ultra wide would be nice too. I can’t imagine using two of them side by side, especially because it seems incredibly wasteful to have a duplicate

My security system (Abode) just sent me an email telling me they’ll be putting ads in the app unless I pony up for a yearly subscription to their premium services. I’m curious to see the implementation. If there’s a break in do I have to si

Yes but the amount of plastic in use has increased dramatically. Also there’s evidence that the process of recycling plastic is what creates a lot of the problematic microplastics. We only very recently started recycling plastic.

Very few people understand the law and just opt to defensively throw a cookie banner up on the site. Usually a 3rd party service. At this point I’ve even had clients ask for it, thinking it makes their site more professional and credible, s

The argument should be brought up every single time. Each major technological jump is a unique event completely different from the last. AI is nothing like anything we’ve seen, and is truly unique in the dangers it poses to the world.

I’ve always liked Apple ITunes store model. (So did Steve Jobs that’s why they were so late to music subscriptions) Just give me a giant catalogue of every show, movie, and album known to man and let me buy or rent a-la-carte for a fair pri

My pharmacist can even prescribe a month’s supply if I’m running out. Stopping an SSRI cold turkey is a really bad idea.

I was also very unhappy to see that notice. However, If you tap “learn more”, it sounds like creating an account is optional. You’ll only need an account to opt-in to certain features, like controlling your lights when away from home, etc.

I’m not convinced of that yet. Visual UI builders have been a thing for decades and this is more or less the same thing except the input mechanism has changed. Instead of point and click you’re prompting it with text. I think there are a lo

Interesting. As long as the limitation in power is self-imposed by the omnipotent being, I don’t find it logically inconstant at all. The “why” question is a good one. I’m not well versed in theology, but I thought the general idea was that

It seems to me that an omnipotent being could, in theory, create some environment or scenario in which events can unfold outside of their own control? Otherwise they wouldn’t truly be omnipotent?

There’s really no reason to use jQuery at this point. It made sense when the native APIs were lacking and inconsistent between browsers. That’s not the case anymore. Just use vanilla JavaScript.

Identity can’t be stolen. You can be impersonated. I think the point they’re making is that it’s not the victims fault if someone is impersonating them. I would agree. It makes zero sense for the victim of impersonation to be held accountab

If the code works let it go? That’s an incredibly low bar to set. Unless you’re working on an all-star team, that approach will quickly get your codebase in a really bad place with incredible amounts of technical debt.

Well, first of all, Amp is opt-in. And second, indexing is opt-out. So the publishers are already in full control of how Google uses their content.
