I think they're saying the author should be fired because they're openly creating a hostile workplace for other groups. And historically, women are underrepresented in tech, and are not in a position of power. Conservative men are

It's very much not trivial, though. Given two solutions to a coding problem, how do you objectively determine which one is better? More importantly, how do you objectively tell if either of them is good enough? Or if they're poor?

It is very much not a lie. They sat in the first three rows, and they were all pointing cameras at her. Hell, some of those people even went on youtube after to brag about what they did. https://www.polygon.com/features/

I'm sorry, but your examples are quite out of context. Read the story about Sarkeesian's thing. Those people were there specifically for harassment. I cannot be upset at her for calling him out, and I cannot be upset that he was b

The "if you acknowledge racism exists, then you're the real racist!" argument has never held water before.

Right, but you don't get that pair of shoes unless you pay. We've tried with doing things like, "You won't get to watch that video or read that article unless you pay." It doesn't work.

Maybe Free Speech wouldn't be under such an assault if people weren't saying that you have to allow everything, including harassment and doxxing, to not be "assaulting free speech". Not to mention that doxxing and harass

Sure there is. Free speech doesn't give you an excuse to behave terribly, such as doxxing and the like.

You still have to sell that output. And until you do, you have to store that output. And if you can't sell that output, then you have to get rid of it in a fire sale.

Maybe. Although I'd think a consumer friendly policy would tend to drive scammers out, but the lure of Amazon may be too big for them to resist.

I'd say the wave of scammers operating on Amazon is worse for consumers.

If an organization isn't taking the time and effort to make sure their app isn't bloated full of stuff, what makes you think they'll do that?

I have to imagine the vast majority either don't care, or have other reasons for not having the app on there (like the company itself, for one).

90% of the time, the organizations that say stuff like this just don't have any discipline. You can move plenty fast with a well engineered product.

However, they usually are designed around a target size. And it's quite possible that, scaled too small, much of the detail is lost. Hence why you'd still want different vector files for different resolutions.

I highly doubt that. Few people actually know how big any given app is. Plus, there are more compelling things keeping people on their platform of choice, like iMessage or the sunken cost of apps that they've already purchased.

Homebrew I believe goes through GitHub. Many of the Vim plugin managers also do, or at least have the option. I think CocoaPods and Carthage, both for iOS development, do as well. I think it's somewhat common for a new package manager

A lot of package manager tools download their packages from Github. If you happened to be refreshing your dependencies at the time, or doing a clean build, then you'd be SOL.
