I use it frequently and I like the output it creates. I sure as hell like python's better than C#'s (== none at all and people doing all kinds of crazy broken crap inlined into Main(string[] args). I've never managed to use optparse without

Yup, my Mum got me started in TRS-80 Basic when I was ~5-6. I didn't love "Outliers", but the Bill Gates story in there underlined how lucky I was to have someone give me a computer language in the early 80s.

Makes me happy. Not because I need it to suggest torrents for me, but it makes me feel like I'm talking to something unbiased, except where indicated. (Of course, that could be a clever ruse...) I must say though, I'm increasingly irritated

It's neat, but it ain't killing Flash for a long, long, long time, even in theory. 1. Timing loops are absolutely useless in most browsers. Stable 30fps is all but impossible, and forget about 60fps. 2. GC pauses are abysmal and very freque

I do feel like slicehost "must" be overpriced these days, just based on the fact that their prices haven't decreased that I can remember. (At least ~2 years, maybe more?) Not sure if prgmr is where I'd end up, but can't be all bad when "fig

Is it sandboxed? Or does it have free-ish reign of the user's resources? Meaning indefinite patching of XP, assuming that there'll be a substantial enough target for XPM-specific malware? (ps IE6 4EVA! Really, now.)

Very snazzy! I don't know how y'all plan to make money, but don't get too caught up in dev tools! They're fun, and might be good marketing, but be sure they're actually saving time against making the thing that people with money actually wa

I think "$('#my-page-area')" is #6 actually (doing a CSS-style selector probably via jQuery or something) I'm not sure that it's "how not to do web development", but it's certainly "this is common: what's a better way?".

Thanks for all the info, much appreciated. On the off chance you see this old thread, the "category"-type links from a few posts above are implemented now. I'm not sure if it'll help people find the pages, but I'll find out soon enough I gu

Hey inerte Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm not too knowledgeable in all-things-SEO, but this all sounds reasonable. (The anal-retentive programmer in me doesn't like the vagueness in the method name.. what if there's a language called

Yeah, JS vs Py drives me crazy too. JavaScript is high on my todo list. Just need to find the "canonical" reference for it. I can't reproduce the login problems? Non-gmail.com acct? Browser/OS matter?

Sure, I'll try to add it. I don't personally use Scala: what reference would you like to see? http://scala-tools.org/scaladocs/scala-library/2.7.1/ or is there something better?
