It's more than 50%. I'd guess more than 100% before exchange rate. Then you do the smart thing and come to Seattle instead. edit: ah yeah the difference is clarified below.

They have had an office for years (at least 5-6, that's where I applied initially). That and MS have a rep as being a place to stash people for a year so they can get L-1 instead of H-1B.

You can, but it's risky. There is nothing preventing the company from filing everything and you go through the normal process. The catch is, if you have to leave then a green card application can be reason to deny you entry. As you hav

There really can't be, since people leadership becomes more and more required as you go up. But if you can handle the amount needed, you can still rise. Just seems to be a lot slower and harder to rise as an IC.

I'm pretty convinced half of that is ability to handle arbitrary bullshit, and the rest is just an IQ test with a different name.

It's real, but I'm not a fan of the application in tech. You have junior people who are evaluated according to arbitrary metrics. So they try to put in a process and get a bunch of people to give feedback. So now you have these pe

That's not competition in the browser space that's just giving Google more power. Google is an incredibly evil company and are hellbent on destroying the open web.

They are also a notoriously bad company to work for. They have a bad rep for quality control. They don't really seem to listen to the market all that much. Apparently the CEO is just a horrible boss.

No, you can stick around. I wouldn't consider someone who spent 5 years on AWS, especially if they moved internally, out of date. Whereas I've done nothing remotely close to where I want to be in about 3 years. I feel very scared

You get them doing interesting work on the system as often as you can. Fixing bugs and babysitting all day isn't going to convince people to stick around. Best you can do is get them something they can try to work with.
