Sodium chloride also grows cubes but hard to make perfect and large.

Sodium chloride will grow cubes but probably not trivial to get big ones.

GCMS is neat, we have a really nice one at work but don't use it to reverse engineer soft drinks. Although, if we had a bit more time we probably could.

Basically you just ignore the hyped up press releases, this just accompanies most semi-cool/exciting papers. The scientists probably know this isn't going to be some new storage that will become widespread but its just part of the

Around the same time I set up an old pentium 80 that booted linux off a floppy to be a router. It ran for a few years later until Linksys wifi routers got cheaper.

I also really like standard size clear boxes. I buy cases of smaller ones for my lab at work. They all get used up quick.

My first router used the Freesco project ( https://www.freesco.org/ ) it had 2 pci network cards in an old pentium 80 that booted linux off a floppy, probably around 1999.

No substrate in the sampler means there would be nothing to test. Can't tell if you are joking.

People also don't develop good habits and constantly touch their face with gloves. I worked with surgeons in the hospital and they would point this out. Equally important in a cleanroom.

The stearates aren't microplastics, they aren't polymers, but they have chemical/spectroscopic similarity that results in them confusing the microplastics assays.

That does seem like an oversight. We routinely run process blanks for elemental analysis at my job. I guess if the metal substrates had specifications on no particles you might skip this, obviously a big mistake if another step (ie. handlin

I guess with Raman I can see this being misidentified but I do testing with FTIR at my job, although not often for microplastics and we often detect olefins and stearates and they don't seem to get confused. I didn't realize there

My M4 Air was $750 on black friday 2025. I bought it after I cracked the screen on my M1 and the cost to repair was half the cost of the much newer computer.

I guess if a single cavity mold costs $30,000 and a 16 cavity mold costs $110,000 you have an additional expense of ~$80,000, divided over half million parts is 16 cents. So lets say somewhere from 5-10cents per part to go 16x faster. My nu

My M1 was the biggest upgrade of many years, I got one from an old job and returned it when I left, it was possibly the most "fast" feeling computer since going from Win98 to 2000. I ended up buying one for my personal computer, I
