Except they do use rdrand if supported. When the random function is called it does a SHA transform. The SHA state gets initialized with rdrand and then the kernel pool is mixed in. This avoids the theoretical issues with xoring rdrand di

So this makes /dev/urandom more like Window's CryptGenRandom (aka RtlGenRandom) which is using AES256 running in CTR mode as a DRNG. I'm curious why there still needs to be a distinct /dev/random though. Hasn&

You're correct it does. Specifically I believe it uses rdrand to fill the initial SSH values when get_random is called which then proceeds to mix in stuff from the kernel pool. This avoids the problem with using xor for mixing as has

The easiest way is to enable 3rd party scripts on youtube. While at youtube open the uBlock Origin menu and set 3rd party scripts locally to no-op. After you enable advanced mode the two columns the now appear are for blocking stuff globa

No I definitly mean /dev/urandom[1] or the getrandom syscall which would be equal to /dev/urandom. [1] http://sockpuppet.org/blog/2014/02/25/safely-generate-random...

I forgot about the new getrandom syscall but yes that would be preferred if supported.

I can't understand Why OpenSSL continues to use it's own PRNG implimentation when we have /dev/urandom and CryptGenRandom which are known to be good. This is basically what BoringSSL does (although if you have rdrand th

I believe it still requires a Tampermonkey script in addition to the filter list to properly function. I'm not sure how I feel about having to use a Tampermonkey script for it (I currently don't use either the filter list or the

Another great thing about youtube-dl is its integration in mpv[1]. On Windows as long as you have both mpv.exe[2] and youtube-dl.exe in the same folder you can use it to play pretty much whatever youtube-dl supports. This should also work

If you're only relying on the filter lists then you're at their mercy.

I see NoScript being recommended but if you're not using Firefox this isn't an option. Lukily both uBlock[1] and uMatrix[2] are cross platform and will work on most (any?) Chromium based browsers as well as Firefox. All instance

Doesn't it also have to do with safety as well? I remember reading that going the long way around also avoids some pirate areas as well (which could also be considered economics, e.g. insurance, etc).

Also just for context remember that on linux forking and threads are basically the same thing so you can't just switch out one for the other and expect performance to change (it won't).

I don't know if it'll play 50% of games well but pcsx2 has a compatibility list[1] which lists the playability of a lot of games. [1] http://pcsx2.net/compatibility-list.html
