That’s a pretty strong statement. I don’t normally subvocalize while reading, and yes, I can still get into that flow state if I’m immersed in what I’m reading. I can subvocalize while reading if I think about it, but it’s honestly kind o

As a very heavy Matrix user, the one thing that's kept me from trying to use it for my local hackerspace is that there's not a simple way to grant access to rooms based on group membership. Within companies/larger private gro

You’re requesting that the other side delete the message after a set period of time. The client on the other side could save the message instead, but realistically it probably won’t. This depends on you trusting the other conversation party

In the case where you’re using a centralized service provider with closed source clients written by the same company... sure. E2E crypto does not absolve you of the responsibility of ensuring you trust the client.

This is unsurprising to me considering you have to go out of your way to get a machine running Linux; that’s not the case for any of the other OSes mentioned. You won’t find a Linux laptop in a retail store for example, nor are they readily

The kernel patchset I was referring to is https://github.com/google/capsicum-linux - it's a Linux version of Capsicum. Though now that I look at it more closely, it appears to no longer be maintained. :( That said

I agree with this. They don’t mention this explicitly in the article, but it has a capability-based security model, which is something I think we desperately need in our OSes. (They do link to a paper about it that mentions this.) There are

This, along with Jolla's bankruptcy, is why I stopped using Sailfish as a former user. I didn't feel that I could depend on the platform sticking around. I later switched to Ubuntu Touch because, despite Canonical picking up the p
