And what exactly the money have been used for? In this case I suspect quantity != quality.

Well... Right from the article: Unfortunately, switchable/hybrid graphics remain a pain in the ass under Linux. With Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, the 2010 MacBook Pro had problems with either open-source driver.

There are few on HN that claim they started programming at the age of 3 to 8. I'm guessing it's either them or their offsprings... On a more serious note, does anyone still trust online survey results?

I don't think you could actually see that pure black. Problem is, that there's always some noise in the wiring that goes from the eyes to the brain, and you'll end up seeing some random coloured patches every now and then.

Grammar is a set of agreed rules, therefore it is not set in stone. Someone might disagree with the rules, and that leads to a slightly different grammar. And so on and so forth. Effectively, everyone has their 'own' grammar that they use.

Instead of a program, she saw three statements of equality and assumed they were a system of simultaneous equations. Er, BASIC line numbers kind of made it easier to get my head around the concept.

What about encrypting your 'secret' password with normal password? So you get assigned this 30 characters password, which you learn. Then you use normal password (like 'password123' :) ) to encrypt that string. Then when you need to log on,

I can only see centos2ol.sh on that page. Was looking really hard, but failed to notice ol2centos.sh anywhere... Oh, I need to write my own? Or will Oracle help me? For free?

Not too sure about the bit that says our brain stores everything. There's a school of thought in psychology that works on hypothesis that our brain only stores partial information, and the rest is reconstructed. Bit like a fantasy, where yo

What are my options if I'm not in US? GoCardless is great but not instantaneous afaik. Paypal is so easy from the user perspective (and has low upfront cost for the developer) that most just accept the risk. But they are evil, very evil.

Did you notice that most articles on Wikipedia, although mostly 'correct', are very dry? And this is because they try to be as 'correct' as possible. But it brings to a point where some (most??) users can't use it comfortably anymore. Think

It is indeed a rather strange acquisition move. DynamicOps is platform agnostic, ie vmware/xen/kvm, so I wonder if they are going to make it VMware only product? Also, how is this going to co-exist with their vCloud director product?

The only problem I have with this, is that for a really simple system consisting of 3 components (web+app+db) now I need to deploy (and pay for!!) 24 components. Yes I know, business continuity and stuff. Still, just doesn't feel right some

I'm very sceptical about this. Children programming at 3, discovering limits of 3.1 and moving on to linux at 8, etc, etc. I don't know. I have two kids (8; 10) and know a lot of a similar age (family, friends). None of them are this smart.

And how is this mass surveilance in US/UK/other "free and democratic" countries different from what was happening in USSR way back? Western propoganda was all over it, but I suspect that it was just a way to hide the real threat (own govern

But even if your project and/or idea is rubbish it is still nice to get some feedback as opposed to 0 up-votes and complete radio silence. The only way to improve is to get some criticism and work on fixing identified problems.
