Citation needed on the Innovator's Dilemma point. I can't find anything that backs up your point. As I remember from reading the book, most of the companies mentioned in the book went bust, so there is no way they could have domin

Presumably, this is the reason that most phones can't be upgraded to the later Android releases?

It's $120/GB/year with Digital ocean, not what I'd call cheap (Yes, you get more CPU and disk, but you don't need it).

It's interesting that because the OS was ahead in one key area, probably only for a couple of years, they spent 18 years using it.

I'm not sure that it does to be honest. UI effects can be disabled on older machines. Cameras, Cars, Microwaves, Washing machines & DVD players all last 10 years or more easily. A 2006 Macbook had 512MB (upgradable to 2GB) and 1.8G

It's not apathy or incompetence that means people are using these old OSes, usually it's that you can't upgrade (and the users don't have the money to upgrade the hardware). Windows 7 won't run on a typical XP machi

Leaving the security issue aside for a moment, they are re-implementing package management. For example: - What version do I have, how to I roll back to a version that works? - What packages do I need for this and where's the log for w

I really doubt Apple is going to do anything radical like that with it's Intel based products. To do so would be massively expensive, dwarfing the revenue from it's Intel-based products, let alone any benefit. Apple's Intel b

It doesn't seem a big leap to have a small UPS at home ($42 gets you 37mins@20W) or even a rechargable battery in the router and mail server. Further resilence could be handled by partering with another device at a trusted person'

Sourceforge's mirrors are a complete miss-use of the term mirror. A mirror should be an exact copy of the source and should be approved by the original project, which I doubt any of these 'mirrors' are.
