I'll take the Acela over flying any day. It's cheaper and less of a hassle. Time-to-commute is a wash when you do the airport security theater dance + delayed flights on the tarmac.

Why not use both and find out? Cloudflare is much less technical than AWS, but still a bit technical.

They don’t though. Marketing hits reality all the time. The Big 4 will survive, but you can only gaslight people for so long. The all-in on AI shows a lack of imagination around innovation.

A lot of games aren't deterministic within a scope of reasonable test coverage.

Humans prefer humans over bots in multiplayer. Even if you dumb down LLM-powered-bots, there's no sense of accomplishment on beating a bot that can be dialed up-or-down. And the social aspect... maybe some amount of gamers want to talk

Midtown on a busy Saturday or Sunday afternoon with a driverless vehicle would be... amusing. No one-including busses-give af about traffic rules.

All we need to do is prompt an LLM with such specificity that it does exactly what we want the machine to do.

With Gemini CLI I blow through Pro requests in < 10 minutes and it switches to Flash. I can't trust either to be autonomous. Pro will write unit tests, get a test to 100% coverage and then delete the test. Flash will get stuck in en

Not really. Worked through the dotcom bubble. It was obvious to some people on the ground doing the work. It was obvious to some execs who took advantage of it. Feels similar. Especially if you are burning through tokens on Gemini CLI and C

Montessori is great. Highly recommend it. In later years students get access to devices in the one I'm familiar with, but in the early formative years they still use the same old-school materials for learning shapes, objects, quantitie

Scratch is good for immediate feedback. I mentored some middle school students last year that learned Scratch in elementary. They've graduated to JavaScript and Python now. They built a bunch of simple—and super fun—games for a school

AI has the same vague hand-wavey problems of the metaverse. LLMs are not AI. Roblox is not the metaverse. Both are approaching parts of the promise of each of their potential, but only a small part of what they could be or are promised to b

I learned about window functions in SQL using an LLM. I hadn't written SQL in over a decade and never ran across them. It explained how they work and the trade-offs. It was great!

Gmail has aliases that have a + in them, e.g. foo@gmail.com -> foo+bar@gmail.com. I use them for subscriptions: foo+substack@gmail.com, etc.

Mentoring some middle school kids right now and they are coding games. They didn't know they could do it. But it's really easy these days with modern tools. They love it. And doing the music and art and story as well.
