Are all tech meetups like that? At the Boulder New Tech Meetup, every company is asked how they will make money. No one boos - it's acceptable, and completely expected. I think it's a common misconception that every web company is innovat

I thought it was a good post, and didn't come across poorly at all (though the comments seem to differ). Perhaps it's because I didn't follow any of this yesterday, so this is the first I am reading of it.

Hadn't been to that site in a while...or ever? My first thought? This is how I expect Target's website to look.

If they nudge people away from long tail queries, won't this mean that people will perceive the relevance of the search results to be worse? I doubt Google wants to start driving people to other search engines by making it harder for people

How old are you? I'm curious because I used to be like that. Now, my back hurts if I am anything but sitting upright or laying flat.

10 years ago, when I visited Australia, their currency was similar in value to the US (I think an aussie dollar was worth roughly 65 cents US), and they had no pennies OR nickles. It started at 10 cents. They also had 1 and 2 dollar coins.

It's understandable that you feel that way. But really, it isn't sketchy. Think of the lower price as a discount that wasn't offered to everyone. The people who paid the higher price thought the value of your service was worth it...no one t

An interesting aspect of this is: there are lots of professions where people dread phone calls. If the awesomenessreminder guys were able to call from a different number everyday (which they might be doing anyway, via Skype), it could compl

I'll bet that Americans have to travel further to see family than most other countries. The bigger the country and more mobile the population, the more days are lost to family visits...making true vacation days even more scarce than they mi

I was initially skeptical of ADstruc, probably because it was a market I know nothing about. I'm sold on it now...watch out - they are going to crush it this year.

As a point of reference, I did print-your-own wedding invites. Bought them at Michaels. Just use a text editor and a swirly font, then run them through your home printer. We actually got compliments on them and I think they were less than $

Agreed. If I watched the video and then had to explain it to someone else...I would never even think to use the phrase "social network"...even if you made me talk for 10 minutes.

I'm sure AT&T knows more than me about pricing but... I doubt the fact that they'll be getting tons of new customers because people can now save $10 a month. Apple has intentionally scaled back on the number of different models they off

I just had a fun little therapy session with someone on there. It was my first glimmer of hope as to the value of chatroulette (the concept of it anyway).

Great article. Pretty incredible to think about how almost everything consumed in the developed world is a luxury...yet we tend to think of them as necessities.

May I suggest Colorado? Cost of living in SF is 30% more than even the most expensive city (Boulder, ignoring resort towns). Yeah, it can get cold, but the winters are orders of magnitude nicer than the midwest or northeast.

I'm surprised that this game is 2 years away. Isn't that plenty of time for someone else to create a clone? Sure, the graphics are primitive, but it doesn't matter for a game like this.

Actually, the home that you're living in isn't that solid of an investment...it's more like forced savings. Generally you'll come out ahead (versus if you rented), but depending on the market, it could easily take 10+ years before it works
