There appears to be a private API for that: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8463212/detecting-color-o... Not sure if this is how it was done; likely a user prompt.

It makes me uneasy how pervasive DRM is becoming and how it's infiltrating lower and lower levels of hardware. We're already 90% of the way to not actually owning our own machines anymore.

If you really want freedom, use CyanogenMod, or better, Replicant. Google's been enviously eyeing Apple's walled garden for a while now.

I had 0.25 BTC on Inputs.io and was uneasy about using the service. I withdrew it all on Monday to my phone... now I'm so glad that I did!

This is really awesome. First thing I did was try a sawtooth wave by entering sequential powers of 0.5... this had the intended effect of creating a sawtooth wave, but also the circle diagram was tracing an almost perfect circle in 2D. Real

Not to be that guy, but could you possibly have picked any color other than that particular shade of brown for the header? Other than that, this is a really gorgeous solution. I'm going to see if I can implement something like this f

Pretty nice! Honestly after reading the "Let's have coffee" link submitted I considered building my own. Problem with the autocomplete, though; it doesn't always seem to work, and so I'm having a lot of trouble addi

I think you're confusing "tip" with "paycheck". That said, I would like to hope that the tip amounts will rise as the site gains traction.

THIS. Remember when you first discovered programming? When you did all those little projects that were, honestly, fairly useless, but brought you the spine-tingling sensation of having power over your domain? Remember how when you started p

The article is a second-hand source; the author could be trying to stir something up, or maybe just got a bit too excited. Who knows? The article also says the proposal, among others, "haven’t hit the desk of anyone at the USB Implemen

Right, but in a shell syntax <= my performance. If I'm typing something 5 times a day, I'd rather type "ls dir|grep README" than some extremely long string of JS. I'm talking about usability, not raw performance.

Heh. Literally this morning I had to use Node to pipe data from one process to another. Unless there's a drastic increase in the efficiency of the syntax, I'm keeping this at arm's length.

I don't think there's a sysadmin in existence who hasn't misused $(cat). It's really for concatenating 2 files, but only rarely have I ever used it or seen it used for anything other than quickly checking contents of a f
