dboza is pretty awesome, beck didnt really address the underlying issue. If you have any real computation, node.js is not your solution. I figured out this in event-driven IO back when I was in school 15 years ago fffffff

Hadoop is NOT converging on avro, there are significant political barriers, and at the very least Owen is dead set against it. The comments on the latest JIRAs are rather pessimistic.

Avro is interesting but it is VERY complex. The schema negotiation is something I never felt comfortable with in an RPC context. You want something simple, and therefore bug free. This is why we like HTTP and JSON. My vote goes for Thrift,

not so, he was able and willing to pay for the land, but the BLM doesnt allow people to buy land w/o drilling for oil. So he was charged with "disrupting a lawful government activity" - even though in fact those BLM auctions are NOT lawful

maybe it isnt "elitist" but it is most definitely attended by the ELITE. Sayings that $10,000 attend a conference is anything but expensive is being elite. Just deal with it and roll on already. Let's face it, only the BEST speakers doing

The strange thing about python is it is almost TOO easy. I have worked with developers who preferred python because basically they were not great developers. The ease of development and attractiveness of the speed of development was a lure.
