Actually no I don’t! Good paper doesn’t even have to be too expensive either. Maybe more than a college ruled notebook. But I don’t take copious notes so something aesthetically nice to use is a big plus for me.

Try a broader nib - with a larger surface it’s less scratchy. Also your nib probably needs a smoothing and tune up too! There’s many resources online to learn how to do that. In short very fine abrasives.

I guess I don’t quite get it. The inks are the least good thing about fountain pens - the ink drys slow and often doesn’t well on cheap paper. I personally love fountain pens. The style, the tech, the aesthetic, everything. So this to me se

Looks like you got downvoted to hell and that makes sense to me... After all you’re on hacker news the site for people who are obsessive about things no one else cares about. Threading models? (Or any programming thing you’re into) Sure. Wh

I thought the ink drying speed was an issue for lefties and the resultant smear. These pens don’t seem to solve it... same ink after all.

There is a lot of missing science here - yes we have the whole 'calories in - calories out', but we are missing some detailed biochemical descriptions of what's going on. The human body is more complex than a 2 term math exp

A good start but it’s really a brief survey and I wouldn’t call it actionable. The greatest challenges for Java gc is when heap sizes are big and when data is turned over slower than pure transactional. In other words allocate and retain fo

Why doesn't it pass the sniff test? Your second paragraph essentially parallels the well known "no one was fired for buying IBM" fallacy. How is buying advice from a Harvard MBA any different?

Also important to remember that "hijacking public services for their own benefit" is hardly an abstract charge. There has been many examples of public goods being transformed into private goods for huge benefits to a select few.

Election security should be transparently understandable to nearly everyone or else there'll be mistrust in the system. At this point, paper ballots, and human processes are the best hope in America.

See my sibling comment - it’s entirely possible for fumes to enter their work via plumbing. So I’d really downgrade that “probably” - ambient outdoor exposure maybe, but the facts as presented better fits an indoor exposure during the day.

A p trap can dry out. In my case the resulting sewer gas introduced 120ppm of CO into that bathroom, which started to dissipate and set off CO alarms on the next floor up. This is common knowledge among the fire fighters here. They knew wha
