Well, there's a reason why it's worthy of a news story. You don't see articles written whenever someone creates a song on his Mac or PC. That's a bit like saying, "you don't see articles written whenever someone creates a song on his pian

The author actually states these "mom and pop" startups are good for the economy and for the people founding them: These founders don't want to change to world. They just want to make enough money to provide for their family, buy a car, or

Actually, many generations of Macs shipped with 32-bit processors. The first two generations of Intel 15" and 17" laptops, the first generation (at least) of Intel iMacs, and I believe three generations of Intel Mac Minis.

Well, you could have planned ahead... it's not like this situation cropped up spontaneously. I bet months ago you knew the Olympics were starting today and you knew you didn't have a way to view them. Not judging or accusing, just sayin'.

Well, if you're willing to pay, couldn't you sign up for cable for one month? I agree, it's not our ideal and it's more overhead for you since you'll need to deal with installation, but it's not like it's impossible to pay to see the Olympi

I suspect the good reason is they didn't want to spend time making the 64-bit kernel support 32-bit EFI and didn't want to create and qualify an EFI update for 64-bit machines that have 32-bit EFI. Likewise, they probably didn't want to spe

Out of the box (so to speak), AirPlay mirroring only supports traditional AirPlay destinations, e.g. AppleTVs. I'm pretty sure you'll still want to pick up that app which makes an iPad an AirPlay destination.

"Under the hood"? Not really. There are a few nifty new APIs – SceneKit, NSXPCConnection, NSUserNotification, the sharing stuff – and the 64-bit kernel (with kernel ASLR) is now the default. Regarding user-visible features, I think there ar

I believe it's telling that Apple's latest keyboards no longer include a Dashboard key; in its place is a Launchpad key. While I actually do use Dashboard on a regular basis (gotta check my stocks!), I don't think it's long for this world.

It isn't like these support issues are a surprise to them, they just have different priorities than fixing them. Exactly! Like I said, I'm sure they felt their limited resources could be better spent elsewhere. Supporting 6 year old hardw

Looks like apple trying to increase those profits even further. Actually, its likely more a technical reason than a financial one. IIRC, the first generation of Core 2 Duo machines shipped with 32-bit EFI, even though the processor is 64-

it can be interpreted as that; that's obviously how you interpreted it. The irony is Apple's one of the greenest, if not by far the greenest, manufacturers in the world. Can you name any tech manufacturers that are better?
