Its always good to zig when others are zagging. As dollars chase the flavor of the month, there are likely voids in other markets. Perhaps enterprise software?

It happens all of the time. For many situations, there is considerable risk in letting somebody hang around for two weeks. The employee's mind is going to be elsewhere. He will be excited about the new job, and eager to talk to co-worker

You don't think its a big deal that I can crawl FB to capture the names and pictures of people, regardless of their privacy settings?

Its interesting (to me) that some of the funding for this work was provided by the Department of Defense. Is this common for the DoD to fund this type of research?

I enjoy most Mixergy interviews. Andrew does a very good job at cutting through the boilerplate biography. The long form doesn't bother me at all. Its great for the car. With that said, I am also looking for content that addresses more t

Profitability at this point seems unrealistic. I understand they have around 150 employees. Assuming a conservative $100k per employee, that's $15M annually just for salary and benefits. Add server costs, etc, and its must be well north

I am primarily a tweet consumer, and I find that my twitter feed already contains too much noise, from 4square check-ins miscellaneous ramblings, etc. I have purged followers for the issue in the past. If Twitter adds advertisements to th

I agree, and that's why I think its hard for Google to do high-touch consumer services, and why I am pessimistic about their ability to pull off a mass-market consumer oriented tablet.

There is a distinction between the physical hardware that you purchased, and the electronic services that you access using the device. The argument of whether you should be able to install any app you want is another matter.

Can you expand on your Titanium Android comment? I am about to embark on building an android app, and was leaning toward using Titanium, so would appreciate hearing about any roadblocks I might encounter.

The difference is that a huge portion of the smarts that goes into rendering the page happens off-device. Opera isn't a typical web browser. My understanding is that its more like webex or something that pushes most of the work to a serve

If you view this in the context of a shopping mall, then its certainly their property, and within their rights to choose who can have a presence within their property. That's how I think Apple views the Appstore.

Unfortunately for Opera, some of what their "browser" does is within their own servers. So, Apple can never have complete visibility into what the application (service) does.

True. The benefit of buying is eliminating one of the big pic players, and thereby disrupting the other twitter client apps. You also get an inventory of pics and a site where you could promote your new twitter properties.

The first thing any of these platform-dependent app companies should be doing is looking for a way to exist outside of the platform. To sit idly by and wait for the master to claim manifest destiny is just dumb. Unfortunately for the Twit
