After the last decade, I now believe the "everyone is winging it all the time" theory more than ever. I used to think people in power really had their shit together (CEOs, judges, doctors, politicians, etc.) but it turns out that

Not to put too fine a point on it, but my guess is there is probably little overlap in the Venn diagram of people paying for porn subscriptions and people capable of managing a crypto wallet.

True, but in my app's case each webhook ends up making a few dozen Slack API calls. In any case the free tier will definitely allow you to handle enough traffic to figure out if you've got a viable business model, which I guess is

It depends on how efficient the dev is. For comparison, I've been running a paid Slack app (a few $K per year) that manages to run entirely within the free tier on Google Cloud Platform.

I've heard they have a generous foot gun billing policy and thankfully I've never had to find out, but we shouldn't be that grateful, because ultimately the cloud providers do this in their own rather dishonorable self inte

My Kubernetes nightmare is that all kinds of organizations will end up cargo-culting it as required tooling when the reality is that it's massive overkill for most deployment scenarios. Oh wait...

I'd also imagine that people using Julia in 2022 are doing so because they wanted to use Julia. They're probably senior and they have a lot of flexibility in tooling selection. Whereas I know A LOT of people using Python and Jav

No reason other than that it uses public domain imagery from the US National Weather Service. It could certainly have been expanded to use other countries' radar data if I had the resources.

I made about $5K selling a live wallpaper that showed local weather radar. I originally just made it for myself, but then decided to release it on the app store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ap

Don't encourage them. There is no Web3 and if there ever is, it's not fucking blockchain apps. What these hucksters call Web3 is the digital equivalent of essential oils. Blockchain apps have no real productive use beyond selling

HN cracks me up. We are largely a demographic of people that make money from selling our IP and yet for some reason many of us are pretty brazen about our efforts to circumvent payment for others' IP. I'll admit that I incognito m
