There's a mountain bike trail in Camp Tamarancho named "B-17" after the crash. Though there is supposedly extant remains of a different crash on the slopes of Mt. Tam, I haven't personally seen them.

Thanks for the reality check; specifics matter a lot. (My only question: how is it possibly a $500 bn/year market? The world economy is something like $60 tn; I have a hard time imagining black women's hair care is 1/120th of

I don't think there's an easy answer. Therefore, we should not expect obvious policy prescriptions from the article, book, research project. (I do hear your objection about the title; I see HN's title is updated to be less cl

You're assuming the author is reporting gross receipts, which he may well be. But your back of the envelope calculations aren't convincing, particularly given your tone. ("Monster" is your word. The text, which I've

Important frame to consider, here in the comments: we're all reacting to an article that's reviewing a book. A long work of sociology. So the article isn't the ground truth; it's a tiny digest, plus a reaction by the art

Yeah, your reading is very different from mine, also. You're assuming things about the liquidity of the market, regulatory environment, and external situations that simply aren't true. Toy models can be useful, but don't take

For at least one scene filmed by Jaunt, the director was crouching in a trash can. I think it was for "Kaiju Fury" but don't quote me on that. Looked for a source to corroborate, but I heard it in conversation with Jaunt peop

To be fair, that's just because the emission of microwave ovens is tuned to a resonance of water molecules. That said, I think that resonance is rather broad, so you could expect a fair amount of coupling at large power. Also, microwav
