By far the best summary of the recent financial crisis that I've read yet. interesting quote: "... if the government had rescued Lehman, it would have repudiated the claim that the Bear rescue was extraordinary; it would have also conceded

I think this is really good advice. Start building simple apps first to learn the foundations (which is very important), then go after your grand ideas.

The Many Eyes project that Irene led up before is a pretty neat data visualization experiment, analyzing large groups' activities on the web. It's worth a look. http://services.alphaworks.ibm.com/manyeyes/home

I personally think iTunes sucks for playing music. I definitely prefer Winamp instead, but unfortunately there isn't a Winamp build for OS X that I know of. If not for easy iPod syncing, I wouldn't use iTunes at all.

This is a great idea to encourage more thoughtful discussion through blogs. Those disqus guys are smart.

This is disappointing because muxtape is/was such a great venue for people to discover new music. The obvious takeaway here: It's going to extremely be hard for truly transformative services in the digital music arena to succeed until copyr

So if you link your drop.io account with twitter it sends out a tweet when you make a "drop"? Not to be cynical but this doesn't really sound like a big deal to me - am I missing something here?

This is a neat idea, but it will be interesting to see how quality artists can be convinced that they should try this business model.

In my head I've always pronounced it something like, "Dell-Issio-Us' The delicious.com name change could certainly give the site broader appeal. I like it.

All of my female friends from college love sending these little images back and forth to one another, and while it's a very simple idea, it seems to be extremely popular. However, in my experience, the Bumper Sticker app is often very slow

I think that this is a fantastic idea. I wonder what kind of variable and fixed costs come along with employing the parking sensors. A service like this will certainly justify a raise in meter fees.

The figure at which Facebook values itself internally doesn't matter. Determing Facebook's true value, based on its potential, is impossible. PB on the potential of Facebook's data set: http://paulbuchheit.blogspot.com/2008/04/facebook-kno

Agreed, for the most part. Yahoo had the right idea acquiring quality services like del.icio.us, flickr, and upcoming, but clearly lacked any vision as for what to do with them.

I'm honestly surprised by all the fuss over xobni. I have it running on my Outlook at work, where I get a ton of e-mails per day, and I frankly haven't found it to be very useful as of yet. Maybe I haven't fooled with it enough.
