The one thing I could not figure out about Amazon music is that when I would type in an album, and start playing it, the songs would reshuffle based on which songs I would listen to the most. It drove me insane, and caused me to cancel the

Sam's criticality has nothing to do with the technical capabilities of OAI, but everything to do with the commercialization of OAI.

Is there a way to paste text into the mobile app and get the voice to read it? I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this. There's no text input shown while in the voice feature despite ChatGPT telling me to "just t

That's not alive in any meaningful sense. When I say alive, I mean it's like something to be that thing. The lights are on. It has subjective experience. It seems many are defining ASI as just a really fast self learning computer.

I like science fiction too, but all of these potential scenarios seem so far removed from the low level realities of how these systems work. I'm not suggesting we don't see ASI in some distant future, maybe 100+ years away. But to

Yeah it does seem Ilya was smart enough to realize the overwhelming majority of people get caught up in the emotion of these things, but rarely act on their promises when money is involved. I guess we'll see in the coming weeks who qui

Can someone explain to me what they mean by "safe" AGI? I've looked in many places and everyone is extremely vague. Certainly no one is suggesting these systems can become "alive", so what exactly are we trying to r

I think Sam and Greg could build something similar to what ChatGPT is today, and maybe even get close to GPT-4, but going beyond that seems like a stretch. Ilya is really the one that’s needed, and clearly he does not see eye to eye with Sa

You think Karpathy is dispensable? I see him and Ilya both as important, and essentially the brains of the operation. Sam was always the VC guy (very Elon Musk in that sense), that came into the company as the non-founder CEO.

Microsoft invested $10b and owns 49% of OpenAi. Yet they don’t have a board seat? Thats genuinely insane, and seems like a huge issue.

Yeah but what could possibly be the scam? OpenAI's product works (most of the time).

Won’t they likely place you into a salary band once you actually start interviewing and they see what level you’re at? L1 starts at $100k and L7 tops out at $700k+. I would think a range that broad is using a single listing for all levels.

The lack of transparency around how they release access to features is infuriating. Especially when you pay for the product. I cannot stand it.

No. My point isn’t about using devise (I’m almost certain that’s what ChaGPT recommended). My point is that if you actually attempt to do both (code a simple app using ROR vs. another framework), you’ll find ROR just works 95% of the time.

Simple litmus. Ask ChatGPT to create a basic Rails app that has authentication, routing, and a dashboard page only accessible after login. Then ask ChatGPT to do the same thing, but with any other language/framework.

I’d much rather the free market figure this out. If I want to change my company from being remote to in office I should have that power. Employees should have the power to quit, which they already do.
