My understanding is that it's a regulatory requirement, the Govt wants to know who specifically owns what SIM. If I remember right, this was introduced post 9/11. I may be spectacularly wrong on both fronts, though!

It was faster for me, I learned to read in Australia which apparently doens't have a very sophisticated reading education, sub-vocalisation kept us slow compared to other systems.

A friend of mine from another country with a different teaching style, when I showed him some speed reading apps laughed, saying that he was taught not to sub-vocalise words, and he is a smart guy. So maybe you have something similar?`

That's a shame. I hope they release there soon! We have Disney+ in Australia but I'm pretty sure we still don't have HBO Max. Though every service in every country has wildly different content. John Wick 1 might be on Netflix

PHP was my gateway to _everything_, most importantly employment. I don't use it any more, but in 2002 when shared hosting and deploying by uploading files via FTP was the thing it was a lot easier to get started with than Perl or Java
