Not really. It elegantly solves the "create a process, letting it inherit these settings and reset these other settings", where "settings" is an ever changing and expanding list of things that you wouldn't want to

Also Xavier Leroy's ZINC paper ( https://xavierleroy.org/bibrefs/Leroy-ZINC.html ) although I believe that's no longer the implementation used by OCaml since it got replaced by an even more efficient one.

The annoying thing I've found with Linux under memory stress (and still haven't found a nice way to solve) is I want it to always always always kill firefox first. Instead it tends to either kill nothing (causing the system to ha

No serious enterprise SaaS company differentiates themselves solely on the product (the products are usually terrible). It's the sales channel, the fact that you know how to bill a big company, the human engineer who is sent on site t

Absolutely! So let's have a code browser like that (somehow).

Also it'd be nice to have something that is more spatial. A famous memory technique is remembering where things are in space[1], but I've never seen a code browser that works spatially. (I have no idea how to actually do this.)

Maybe if they'd invested in themselves they would have been able to expand (eg. they could have hired more sales people or spent more on advertising). If they truly were unable to find a reliable investment then they should have given

Most C compilers let you use variable length arrays on the stack. However they're problematic and mature code bases usually disable this (-Werror -Wvla) because if the size is derived from user input then it's exploitable.

I think the interesting thing about having protection in software is you can do things differently, and possibly better. Computers of yesteryear had protection at the individual object level (eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wik

When I was being interviewed, we did talk about exactly this, including that libsystemd is a kitchen sink, and that eventually OpenSSH went with open-coding the equivalent to sd_notify instead of depending on libsystemd. (Also that ahem
