Sadly, I have no issue with these people losing “their life’s work”, since they didn’t care that they illegally co-opted another artists “life work” to play in the background without so much as credits. After all this, they could have just

Why not fire up an ARM vm instance of linux on your machine using qemu and see if the packages you want are viable? Make sure to enable acceleration and nested virtualization if you want to test containers.

I prefer Linode, personally. Great consistent performance, no dials to turn, but also not as many bells and whistles as AWS. I am always waiting for AWS to release a new product called “Directory Service”, which will actually be just the li

It says you can’t derive the source from the binaries. It does not limit you from reading the source, but it does stop you from creating another product from the source that will compete. Pretty standard, IMHO

So, the wealthier you are, the more you pay, the greater your audience, and the less real people get seen. Isn’t that where we are now with society and social media? I don’t think this solves a problem, but it sure does create a few.

in my case, this upvote is not an endorsement of the story (because it needs to be investigated given the timing), but a rebuke of the selective silencing of stories released by, and deplatforming of, recognized news organizations that don’

It’s insane to believe that an iPhone 11 costs $1000 when you can buy a Samsung A11 5g with virtually every feature (except camera quality) for $179. The cost of phones should be declining with adoption, not increasing.

As a telecom dev, I can assure you that 911 systems have been making the shift to voip with a fallback to cell or POTS for the past 10 years.

Look, I get it, but you swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and the laws of this nation. You didn’t swear that you would uphold the Constitution unless it made you feel bad. You didn’t swear to uphold “just the parts that are cool.” Le

YES. Always, but one with solid funding/M&A experience. What’s NOT covered in the term sheet is many times more important, and harmful to you and your company, than what is.

Great question... Amazon’s offering wasn’t really about containers, even though it was. It was about maintaining the heterogeneity of their brand and offerings by requiring competitors to allocate resources to compete in a space that really

Opportunity is opportunity, but you’re not building a viable long-term business and you can’t guarantee anything since you don’t own the underlying B2B SaaS. The provider could pivot and remove the fundamental functionality you require and

Lately, I have been using Docker Swarm... build containers on a private deployment machine with all dependencies, and deploy them to production machines in a load-balanced, isolated environment that is fault tolerant. Works nicely and I don

Almost forgot... if you make the early choice to use a walled-garden solution to create an MVP, you need to make sure you can develop it with off-the shelf systems to ensure that vendor-lock-in doesn’t screw you in the long run should the v

There may be but unless you scope your guarantees around a common benchmark and anything outside that is on the developer, you may have problems. You may also have to over-engineer your FaaS platform to ensure spin-up times for new instance

I love the concept of FaaS, but the rush to reduce everything to *aaS has omitted intelligent scaling in favor of code atomicity. Let’s say your function operates on a huge dataset, and requires 120ms responses. How can you do this consist

React and Django are two different things.. the former is a client-side UI framework, and the latter is a backend platform for handling requests, accessing the database, etc. A better comparison is React and Vue. or Django and Flask. IMHO,

Great test! One thing... The test says “You get hyperthreads...” You don’t. Today’s virtualization platforms allow for ‘“cpu shares”, the default of which I’ve seen is 500, meaning that a vcpu can be as little as 1/500th of a core, or
