You said: Because people can't get over Lisp's lack of syntax. "People" are getting over it all the time. Lisp is back, baby! Don't miss the elegance train.

The ticket-price-routing problem is not new, even if it is interesting. There was an article on HN a few months ago, IIRC, talking about how ITA uses tens of thousands of lines of Common Lisp, with hand-tuned assembly, to get their optimiza

Is this the panacea for those of us wanting both powerful macros and high(est) performance? Is there already something like this for a language with more support for distributed computation?

Very general; not much information. Should be useful to beginning undergrads.

How do advertisers feel, now that their clickthrough rates will likely decrease as a result of being on the seemingly-irrelevant images page?

Why would you disallow macros in the Lisp style?

Everyday application programming is not isomorphic to theoretical CS (TCS). TCS is not "broken". Do not blame the awkwardness of your coding experience on the study of computation . What we need is more TCS when we hack.

You said: Capitalism is a system of decentralised decision making on resource allocation, ultimately leading to increased productivity and innovation. You cannot insert a result into a definition. P may or may not imply Q.

In your words, what is not rational about "mind uploading, cryonics, singularity" ? Even if you don't know for certain that there is or is not "existence after death", are you saying you live your life believing in that possibility?

That is a really exciting application. Keep in mind that "compressed" normally implies a lossless representation, not lossy, like you are proposing.

Is this article a joke? Where's the paper? "...male starlings who ate worms contaminated by female hormones at a sewage works in south-west England were subtly changed so that they sang at greater length and with increased virtuosity."

Interesting application of evolutionary optimization. The system is probably easy to reproduce: expect open-source versions soon.

Mathematical Platonism is dangerous for mental health. Cantor is a great example of someone who literally went crazy contemplating the meaning of uncountable infinites. Set theorists, by the way, seem to be the most likely to go insane.

Cool. UI crits: 1) Try browsing without javascript enabled (cough). 2) Try using the back button in any project-specific page. You have to hit it multiple times, quickly, to go back.
