You can think of a language as an psychological object, a thing that can be described by a grammar and a dictionary. That's basically where linguistics started, and it's part of it. But some things about language are really best u

As far as I understand it, electronics are recycled by crushing them and extracting a handful of minerals - e.g. gold, there's more gold in circuit boards than the rocks they dig out of gold mines I've heard. The rest - which by m

The startup I work for sells to education customers in Scandinavia. It is my impression that schools are either "Microsoft schools" or "Google schools" (these are the terms used). The Danish data protection agency made s

A few years ago, I read an essay that pointed out that the typewriter meant that people could write five or so times faster than before. And of course, what happened was not that people spent less times typing, quite the opposite. This play

I don't really think you're contradicting me? If you, as a company, want to get rid of a group of staff because you think you're spending too much money on wages, you phrase that in a more palatable way, probably involving th

My wife just uses Excel like graph paper. She likes that you can write lists anywhere on the page. It's hard for me to watch but it works well for her.

I think the main issue would be the buffering existing tools are likely to assume. You don't need more than a few hundred ms of latency for a phone call to start feeling really weird.

On October 17th, 1979, VisiCalc was released. I'm sure pretty much every accountant in the world got up and went to work that day exactly like they'd been doing all of their career. It probably didn't feel different for that
