I would use FreeBSD myself if it weren't for Void Linux. You get all the extra tools and quality of life from Linux without any bloat, and it has a minimal init system. It's also very convenient to use if you need up to date softw

Also the RockPi 4 is pretty cool, with a full fledged m.2 socket and stronger GPU. It has mainline support although I had to chroot install void linux since there was no official image

PyO3 works great. I've written an example repository for a hello world app for this if anyone's interested: https://github.com/russnes/rust_python_package_example

Maybe someone should make a Linux distro with a DE preconfigured to work "the Mac way", kind of like Linux Mint is preconfigured to be "the Windows way".

The blockchain is the solution to a specific problem Bitcoin has, so when people and businesses were saying "we like blockchain but not Bitcoin", it just didn't make any sense. The problem is how to be able to synchronize an

I'm Norwegian and I just realized why its called "Viking" (not 100% sure it's true). The word vik describes a geographical phenomenom, much like the word fjord does. Google translate says it is in English: "inlet&qu

They talk about trying for a "soft landing", so although there is a downturn in stocks and it will likely go down a little more, the path of less resistance would probably be to try to get inflation and stocks to average at around

Very interesting, thank you! From your second link (digital currency fed boston): The researchers also note that the faster system, the one processing 1.7 million transactions per second, the transaction quantity “appears to scale linearly

I would guess the best approach is to try to have as small an attack surface as possible, meaning as few applications etc, and the simplest possible operating system. Like for example a minimalist build of the PinePhone with software that l

I tried it a few times, but like the title says I honestly got scared of how much it felt like I got sucked into it, and time just flew by. That eerie feeling kind of like realizing I've befriended a sociopath.

OK, good. But yeah the high likelihood of returning to the stone age repeatedly makes it even more important for the magnetic field to sustain for as long as possible.

My concern is fundamentally whether or not we are siphoning energy out of the core faster than it would otherwise escape. Since the layers are directly connected, it doesn't sound like to me that you'd have to dig into the very co

I see. 42 million megawatts is 42,000 gigawatts. A quick google search tells me that typical power output of a nuclear power plant is around 1 gigawatt. So a single nuclear power plant would be roughly equivalent to 0.002% of earths geother

probably a stupid question, but is it a possibility that geothermal energy (if adopted to a great extent) could take away from the earths core energy and reduce the magnetic field?

Technically you should be able to run your own back-end, but I ended up giving up on this endeavor when I tried a few months ago. It should be doable if you give it a few good days, but it wasn't very well documented at least when I tr
