It's hard for us to judge which side is being (ir)rationally stubborn without knowing what technology stack you are proposing. More details, better advice.

Ah the cynic in me. This sounds like a new generation of bubble memory (1970) with the physics and hype scaled for the times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubble_memory

Back in the 90's my son got arrested for getting in the way of a campus cop trying to arrest a Berkeley protester. He was charged with Lynching. So, yes, it's real and used. He was let go because there was no provable case.

What the critics seem to forget is that when these wonderful places were built they were out of reach for most Americans. My grandparents did not have running water or central heating. In the cities most people, especially immigrants, liv

I made a good living as a contractor for about 2 decades, although the aftermath of the .com implosion almost did me in, even though I had nothning to do with it. But I recovered and soldiered on. I finished a lucrative contract Sept 15,

It felt awkward when I wrote it. You are right. The wealth is absorbed/destroyed, but the money is still there with fewer goods to purchase, hence inflation (eventually).

Actually I agree with you completely. The 5x improvement is what it takes BigCo management to notice you. However startups are getting the 5x advantage all over the place. Nimble platforms plus smarter people plus stripped down organizat

The curious thing is that they are already here, e.g. Python/Ruby vs Java. According to Clayton Christensen it takes a paradigm shift of over 5x improvement before anyone notices. I dont think the shift will be programming language based b

I am curious to know your reasoning. In a post in this thread I was leaning towards inflation in a few years, with the other possibility being a long recession or Japanese style stagflation. The downside would come from an austerity progra

This is a curious expectation, but it feels right to me (with a degree in economics). Recessions are usually preceded by inflation, not followed, However, wars are usually followed by inflation. Since 1960 inflation has been over 600%, en

This is one of those issues that the HN community needs to think about. The solution is not simple. A simple do-not-track option in a browser breaks a great many sites, facebook for one. do you have a do-not-track policy version 3.4, add
