I had a hospital call me recently and inform me that the cash price for an upcoming procedure would be much lower than the price they would bill the insurance company. Since I wasn't going to meet my deductible this year, they suggeste

Keep in mind of course that a chart of the risk of serious illness from the flu by age range looks like a saddle. The risk for those 5-49 is pretty low. But the risk for those 0-4 and 50-64 are both much higher.

Lets say there's some rare genetic disorder, only a few hundreds of a percent of the population has it. If someone knows that your mother or father has it, you now don't have a few hundreds of a percent chance of having it. Depend

In the near future (or arguably now depending on your purpose) you don't even need that. Assuming enough of your relative's sequences are available, the probability of you having certain genes/mutations can be narrowed down s

Seems like if you just wanted the side shot and not the straight on shot as well, you could of just pulled the helicopter on a low trailer using the median partition to block. The straight on shot would of required deleting the trailer whic

If you choose a common name and your kid has an allergy or something, I guarantee you will pick him up from day care and he'll be eating snacks brought by the parent of one of the other children with the same first name.

Right, but then the way to do that should have nothing to do with corrective lenses and requiring them shouldn't be an artificial barrier to getting corrective lenses. If it's important, then it's important for everyone.

People want hands on physical hardware. If you just wanted 2021, you could run everything in an emulator. Having a floppy drive is cool and nostalgic.

Probably has to do with hardware and firmware roots. Building an RTC that is programmable with year, month, day, hour, minute, second without multiplication and division is much much easier if you store the date time in year, month, day, ho

The envelope description doesn't allow the core of the issue to be expressed. Just allowing for a single measurement of a single property is completely uninteresting. Being able to measure spin at arbitrary angles is the best descripti

The fallacy in the article is that anyone should code these functions. There's plenty of public domain libraries that do this correctly. https://github.com/rustyrussell/ccan/blob/master/ccan/end

Many of these risks don't apply to the lunar variant. The lunar variant won't be launching people from earth and won't be returning to earth. No re-entry, no landing flip, etc. As far as descent, it will do final touchdown wi

1100km / c is 3.7ms. In free air, light speed is 50% faster. So long as the distance you are covering is more than 2200km, you'll overcome that. Of course, there's also the consideration that there can also be a lot of hops i

This big missing piece here is that it's not a simple red/blue property. Spin is the easiest to understand. When you measure, the spin will either measure up, or down. The key though is you can measure spin against any angle. If y
