You would think it would be easy to implement ... technically ... but one has to remember that as well as being businesses many Telcos are large hulking great slow moving monsters draped with red tape and politics - anything that changes th

Thing to be mindful of with Cromwell, is that to some he’s a hero and to others he was a monster. A dichotomy heretofore yet unresolved after centuries.

They are trying to use the prevalence of organised crime in one nation to justify corruption in another. It’s called “comparing yourself downwards”. Kind of like the drunken neglectful husband who pats himself on the back for not beating h

I’m just telling you what I was told. I didn’t take the job in the end because some of the clauses in the contract - apparently normal by US standards - were simply astounding.

Nope. No mention of microwave in there. To save you the hassle of reading the piece ... Orwell advocates heating your dry porcelain over a naked flame before pouring actual rolling boiling water in. I haven’t actually tried this because I’m

Well based on my recent discussions with a prospective American employer the main reason they pay their staff more is the yawning disparity in healthcare costs ...

Isn’t Orwell on Tea some sort of troll? I like some elements but the bit where you heat the porcelain before putting the water in it is a recipe for disaster surely!

It was a fine machine, and though it was weaker than its competitors it was ahead of the curve. You say “repackaged Amiga 1200” like that’s a bad thing. The Amiga was the premium home personal computer of the early 90s and only ever died ou

You remember well. Here’s the thing though. In that transitory phase between DOS and Windows one often has to “drop to DOS” to run some software, and even assemble “Boot Disks” to provide a customised stripped down environment, especially f

You could do deriv properly in C if you have support for “blocks”; otherwise you’ll have to store your state in a struct. I really wouldn’t have got this stuff 5 years ago but functions returning functions is a super sweet tool and I’m glad

I ran across an interesting factoid a while back where a line was drawn between the Amiga CD32 and PS2 - that somehow Sony picked up where Commodore left off but I’ve been unable to find a reference since and I’m certain at this stage I’ve

Both of which I was aware of but I heard that some kind of suspension design would work. The tunnel is infeasible because there’s a very deep trench there, and that as you mentioned is filled with all sorts of nasty stuff.
