That's still the case. I've seen a few newsletters I follow move off the platform, one of them just a couple weeks ago. I don't like to see them go though because I think Substack is great overall, much better than competing

Is Substack really failing? I don't have any particular insight into the business as a whole but I do see quite a few prominent political writers on there who seem happy with their traffic and reach.

I feel like for any place that Gemini can give you worthwhile information about there will be a number of other sources that can give you more reliable info about it. Granted I tend to take trips to oddball places so I might not be the best

Yeah there's roughly zero chance that works reliably. It's so prone to bad failure cases I'm skeptical that they'll even ship something that tries to do that automatically. On the plus side if they do ship this we should

The only part I would quibble with is the fear that superficial AI generated code becomes widespread. It's not that I think this won't happen, and I wouldn't want it on my team, but I think it could actually increase demand f

I left that part out for brevity, but I told Claude the version of Postgres I was using at the start, and even specified that the mistake it produced is invalid in Postgres.

It depends a lot on the type of problem. If we're talking about fixing a bug or adding a new feature to a large existing code base, which probably describes a huge portion or professional software engineering work, I would say most eng

I recently had to do a one-off task using SQL in a way that I wasn't too familiar with. Since I could explain conceptually what I needed but didn't know all the right syntax this seemed like a perfect use case to loop in Claude. T

Many of the announced savings are fake. The actual savings are a paltry number that will be dwarfed by the 100s of billions that will be spent on border security theater, not to mention the trillions in upcoming tax cuts for the wealthy.

We could start with a standard of not willfully lying about facts and see how it goes. I agree that the gray areas could get tricky, but just starting with most obvious cases might provide a lot of the benefit. I think the current status qu
