It's the classic worse is better. The slowest of all dynamic scripting languages. Breaking ABI's and API's left and right all the time. Not able to implement basic performance optims. Their infrastructure (pip) getting worse

I wouldnt recommend exiftool in a commercial image pipeline. way too slow compared to libexif or tagging your images with in the image lib. We store everything in tiff tags and exif tags, as our database. But we also embed yaml as comment f

Not so often. The GPU's are running 100% for 3 weeks for a training run. We do images only, but it's the same process. And then we can use the costly GPU's for inference, local model coding agents. Training is about 4x a yea

You got it wrong. Inference can use crap GPU's. Training needs the 100x more expensive big guns. Our training machine is 100x more expensive than our inference machine.

That was sama's and elon's original goals before they became trillionaires. Just to keep google/deepmind to take over. Turned out both assumptions were wrong. You couldn't trust sama to turn this into open source, the Ch

I can use DeepSeek in 80% of my tasks. Let's see how the latest kimi 2.7 helps, because this is even cheaper than deepseek, and supposedly even better. So far it's not worse.

Github thanksfully not, but GH actions are running entirely on Azure. They've setup actions as a testbed for Azure afterall.

Russia invaded their neighbors forever, not just since 94. America invades everywhere, Russia only neighbors, that's what you learn in school.

Opencode sits on a ton of important PR's, so they didn't want to wait. Everybody else switched to omp (oh my pi) already.

No, it is just a prominent "Cyber Security threat detected" blocker, with a button to appeal. I appealed because my work had nothing to do with neither cyber nor security, but the appeal was auto-closed. So no more Claude for this

Not just security work. Normal bug finding was impossible, because the model suddenly called triaging and verifying a possible fix a cyber security threat.

Instead pay for 3 Chinese models. No max out ever then. I pay for kimi, DeepSeek and Claude. Whenever Claude decides it's over, I can safely continue on very cheap plans.

Exactly. The same reasons why US players will never be better at table tennis also. It's the capitalist school and club system, which forbids any advantage in the early years. If you have to pay, you won't train that often.

Precision yes, but depth of thinking not. I can use DeepSeek V4 Pro 90% of my time, but for very tricky problems I have to use GPT or Claude models. Maybe 2x per month.

So like at a film festival, 90% of the entries won a price, but unlike a film festival there's not a single best. Weird, like modern education.

Killing the incremental GC for synthetic benchmarks, not real ones, caused the issues. If the processes are broken and you get nothing done with it, you better step aside and do it without. Fork it, and drive the blockers away.
