Not to mention, the first procedure is partially/mostly illegal in the USA now. Localbitcoins.com doesn't facilitate in-person transactions anymore and coffee-shop brokers operating over craigslist have been prosecuted.

Not until they fill the FCC position that’s been open since Trump left office. FCC is pretty deadlocked as long as congress won’t vote for the nominated replacement.

The old Firefox is a pretty big signal for anti-bot filters. They can generally figure out what hardware you’re on via canvas fingerprinting. Also IPv6 is generally downrated as well. Essentially, if your fingerprint looks different from wh

Fair enough. I hope I was clear that I do think that computer programs can understand. I just don't think that optimizing for solving the Turing test will generally yield a computer program capable of "understanding" or "

This feels so, so eerily similar to customizations that were common in the early 90's.

I like the heat here in TX. I moved from Michigan, where I also enjoyed the cold (but not the lack of sunlight, affinis Seattle). Saudi Arabia was a bit too hot for my taste, but Texas summers are very enjoyable to me. I may be an outlier

It depends on the region. In the southern states, the terminology is much more loose. "Freezing" just means "below 55F". "Below zero" can mean anything under 32F, it's very ambiguous (some use this correct

This was a much, much, much shorter cold spell than 2 years ago. It was below freezing for less than 24 hours in Houston. If it stayed below freezing for 3-5 days straight again, we'd be in an equally terrible situation as 2 years ago.

Bonobos brand jeans have served me well. I highly recommend them. I too notice the decline in jeans quality. The cheap jeans I had as a kid in the 90’s were nearly indestructible. Sometimes I’d skin my knee but my jeans wouldn’t get a hole…

Actually the tragedy of the commons cannot be stopped by one government. If USA chooses to tax all externalities perfectly, both our production capacity and consumption will be a tiny sliver of its current quantities. By GHG alone we'd

I always thought that if our universe is actually a simulation, it's one of countless simulations trying to determine a solution to the Tragedy of the Commons. I suspect it's one of the hardest problems to solve in any universe.
