Raised in LA and so was my mother, but she would say "back east". I always took it in a historical sense.

I made a Chrome extension that opens a player on specifically selected gifs but not wholesale (would need too much memory) https://github.com/0ui/gif-scrubber

The author is wrong about gifs encoding full frames. Properly encoded gifs only store the pixels that change in each frame. His own example with the dog shows this http://i.imgur.com/wISu3An.png

I switched to Nil w/ the Big Duo color scheme about a year ago and since then no other theme/scheme looks right. To me, it's the perfect use of contrast while still pleasing to the eye.

I think the idea is that in a capitalist competition we should assume all actors are trying to monopolize the industry and really only follow laws to avoid harming their bottom line. The same way you'd design any system by assuming any

Well viewport units are completely flexible/dynamic [1]. That's their purpose. But I can see how this library might be a quicker solution in many cases. [1] http://dev.w3.org/csswg/css-values/#viewport-re

This is very nicely done, however css viewport units have what appears to be the same browser support and are built-in. I think what this delivers that css doesn't is explicit bounds for min and max size, whereas you'd have to do

The browser version has shortcuts for next track (n/j/b), prev track (p/k/z), play/pause (x/c/space), stop (v), and heart (l/h/f). I use Plug regularly but does it add anything in that regard?

I think tools like React actually make debugging situations like this easier. Instead of trying to figure out what actions a user took that manipulated the DOM with jQuery n times, I can take an exact snapshot of the state of the applicatio

Wow. I've read anti-sports rants before, but never one so lengthy and pointless. It reminds me a lot of the hate I see for pop stars on the internet. The vitriol over the Biebers and One Directions simply because they're popular i

The word "forge" seems to me an odd choice for a company that deals in finance. Three of us here independently saw negative connotations when it comes to money, security, trust, etc. but nobody else has brought it up yet so perhaps it's jus

Not generally, because few would define a market in terms of a single day since it's not very useful. Usually a period of one year is assumed but can commonly be a quarter or a month. But technically, if you defined it that way, sure it had

You say this as if the press is using the term in a misleading or special way, but in business the term "market share" has always meant percentage of volume for a given time period, not including product still being used. People might use a

I can't find any actual citations of the word regulate used to mean "to make regular". The only references I found are in articles trying to explain the Commerce Clause. The word regulate comes from the Latin regulare "to control by rule,
