Actually I think a self driving car might be better at driving on slippery roads than most humans. Detect any wheel slip, vehicle yaw, etc. and immediately take action. Not to mention being better at simple rules like 'when temp is bel

I think it can fill a valuable niche telling you the "right way" to do things. Such as using an ide/linters, testing, a code repo, virtual servers, etc. When you first try to learn to program you often hack things together to

At least there is a feedback mechanism in place? That and cabs that will not pick up in certain areas or certain times are the biggest problem with taxis I have experienced.

Exactly. It would be trivial to have a "flag" button that after a certain amount of "boy cried wolf" complaints Nextdoor either prevents people from making crime alerts or in some other way throttles them. If this sort o

Right. We have reached a point of post scarcity. A tiny portion of humanity (at least in first world nations) provides food, shelter and things like medical care. Personally I suggest we just get rid of the concept of "non-exempt"

Yes, it does. There are percentages shown relating how many would (if the shuttle service was gone): drive alone, carpool, move, get a closer job, take public transportation... Granted it is self reported but whatever.

Slower than that. I used to regularly walk from IIRC chestnut and Mason to CalTrain through Chinatown at around 6pm and regularly beat the 30.

Am I the only one that thinks a self driving car needs far more than a 'software update'? I would imagine it would need multiple redundant 360 degree sensor packages. Supposedly the Google self driving cars analyze a gig of data p

This reminds me of an anecdote where someone who jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge wrote that if a single person smiled at them while they walked to the bridge they would not jump off. That sadly didn't happen... I think caring for one

Thanks for the detail. It is interesting that violating an NDA about physical hardware results in getting your software pulled from a sibling app store. Clearly an android app would not be similarly affected. Though it does seems like the

It really depends on what you consider endurance running. A marathon distance is quite different than a mile and even a 5k. But all the above require training at various paces. You tend to train your endurance, lactate threshold, vo2 max an

I don't think "runners tend to be less quantitative about performance gains" is true. There are an enormous number of folks that compete in races and are timed. I would assume most of them care about said time. Also look at t

It seems like there should be a no fault period where you can remove the image at no cost if it's as wide spread as this and the true origin is difficult to discern. Also gag orders in general should be unenforceable.

You can easily set up billing alerts in cloudwatch to do this. I have done so. I agree by default it should prompt you to do so during the aws on boarding process.

I think the main issue with this philosophy is Mint is a very juicy target for hackers and it only takes one person on the inside to "turn bad". The company itself can have the best of intentions. That being said I use them too...
