I hate recruiters too. Not because they cost me too much annoyance, but it's just sad to watch them flounder. I get at least one or two a week trying to pitch me a job (interview?) on LinkedIn and I've yet to not regret opening the mail.

As a contractor though, you kind of need to specify how many hours you work on average. I know some who make close to what you make but are killing themselves every week. Know plenty making much less, but work an easy 20hrs. Can you go i

What fascinates me about the online dating market is that the optimal user experience is indirectly proportional to a customer's lifetime revenue in any site that is ad based or subscription based. If a company was purely motivated by profi

The State Monad isn't really mutating state though, it's really a monad for composition of incremental operations upon immutable data structures. The ST monad is for 'hiding' mutable variables and ensuring their state doesn't violate refer

Did you primarily compare Scala's actors to Go's channel based concurrency, or did you also evaluate and compare Scala's monadic Future/Promise classes for building concurrent libraries? As someone who has done a fair bit of network program

Clojure isn't typed, and Scala is a functional language, is used extensively at Twitter and FourSquare, LinkedIn from what I heard, some at Yammer, and a ton of other companies.

It goes beyond that . LINQ isn't a monad, it's monadic syntax for any monad. It just so happens that the one everyone uses is IEnumerable. Here, I wrote the Reader monad for IoC to show it could be done: https://gist.github.com/vmarquez

No, a brilliant move would be to fire people who didn't do their jobs, and to fire the managers who let that happen. You really think the people who suck at their jobs are going to quit? Maybe some of them, others will move to the office

Yeah...sure... Because all those unproductive work from home employees are going to be super productive once they get in the office. No way they'll slack off there, browsing the web or come up with meetins and excuses.
