I'm confused at how Gates set back computing by taking the PC from a geeky hobby item to perhaps the go to standard appliance in the modern home. Could you explain this a little better?

I thought it was the other way around: SpaceX wants to go to Mars and will find profitable things to do to achieve this. Similar to Tesla selling a nice car so it is in a position to build a battery factory, no?

A good number of "world changers" prioritize their work over everything else in their lives, including themselves and the people around them. They expect their team to do nothing less, so if he did say that, I'm not exactly s

There's no mortgage deduction in US either. There's a mortgage interest deduction, which I'm sure while significant isn't a major variable in this eqaution overall.

I'm not sure where you came from, but the US system offers more or less the same deductions as other systems. On $60K, the tax rate in Canada for example would be about 15-17%, before credits. Add your health care costs to that 12% and

"Not sweating" the small details is a big part of why we have consumer debt levels where they are. The two are distinctly connected. People who are likely not worrying about an extra $5-$10 are likely not worrying about an extra $

It most certainly is "easier" to not negotiate to get the best value for your money. Businesses love taking your money, especially if you give them extra. Hell, I like it when my customers do this too. >For many people, the $10

This. Dash removes any type of "shopping" from the conversation. Platform lock in for consumables. My bet is they'll just give them away on the containers themselves to get you to use it.

I think this is actually ignorant of any real experience with those systems. Yes, there's a cost, but tax rates in the US aren't ultra low compared to every other country in the world. It's not so much how much money you spen

Linking yourself to a brand in this way completely removes any power you have as a consumer. I don't understand why people do it. And to be honest it seems more prevalent the younger you are. If you like a brand, you should really be d

You probably won't understand where I'm coming from here, but I'll say it anyway, since that's the type of person I happen to be: There is a fine line between using rational and reasoned thought to explain an unpopular

You certainly have a very passionate view from a very different perspective than mine. As I said, I'm not indending disrespect, but I won't pretend that I can in any way understand what motivates you aside from the reasons I put f

I mean no disrespect, so I will say this to the general reader, and not to you directly. This comment and its parent are incredibly disheartening, given that I assume the people writing them are of above average intelligence and likely have
