Um....ok. At my day job pay roughly $150 a year to Canonical for support. I don't really need it, mind you, as most of the time the system operates as expected. However, it was a way to give a little back to a company who has done a lot for

What always boggles my mind about about startups like this is the fact that their very existence is dependent on a giant company that could roll over and squash the life out of them. Their first product was a pre-paid Mastercard...which imp

I'm looking to do this currently. Did you use gwtonrails or write your own code to handle the communication between client and server?

Everyone believes that many large companies have dozens or even hundreds of Software Patents that could apply to the various ASF projects, and we mostly exist in a peaceful state. Oracle has certainly changed that perspective. I don't know

You know...after doing both Django and Rails in depth, I really don't agree with this sentiment. Rails brings things to the table that Django doesn't, and Django brings some things to the table that Rails doesn't. Understanding the differen

If, on the other hand, you’re working with a system that allows for a variety of concurrency approaches (the JVM, the CLR, C, C++, GHC, etc.), you have the flexibility to change your concurrency model as your system evolves. I think you h

I guess the issue is the prevalence with which it occurs in Ruby, as you say. I've been programming professionally for over a decade now, in at least as many languages, and I've only had this problem with ruby. Still, I enjoy ruby very much
