Shazam works much better than Midomi in my incredibly informal, anecdotal experiences... never got any of the extra midomi features to work when I could use them, either.

Intel claims you can write 100GB of data every day for five years before the flash burns out - I don't know what other companies provide as statistics.

I almost grabbed an OCZ, but I'd seen enough reports in their forum of odd problems with Macs that I decided to stick with the Intel. When I bought the G2, it was reasonably competitive with the other drives - I think the pricing on competi

I picked up a 160GB X-25M G2 for $450 on Newegg the minute they were posted - I have it installed in an otherwise-maxed 17" non-unibody MacBook Pro. It's an amazing and surprising difference, one that reminds me of my first dual-processor m

Is there any reason you can't post a gem called why-hpricot to RubyForge and have it override GitHub? This doesn't seem like a new problem to me. If this concerns you, just edit the sources list of your .gemrc file manually and make sure Ru

This is dealt with in the FAQ - but the short answer is that Gemcutter mirrors all gems from RubyForge. If you want to push directly to Gemcutter instead of letting Gemcutter mirror it, you need to go through a migration process to verify y

Thanks for sharing, Peter - one always hears numbers being tossed around, but it's interesting to hear the whole story. It sounds as if you've burned your bridges with Apress to some degree - do you have any interest in continuing to write

Those aren't actually screenshots of Google's Google Voice app, it's one of the third-party ones that has since been pulled. I have GV Mobile Premium (the one pictured) and like it quite a bit. Having used it I find it hard to belive that s

I tend to liken RAM to a table, programs/data to books, and the hard drive to a bookshelf. You can't read stuff on a bookshelf; you have to take it out and put it on the table to open it. (Sure, you can read a book on a couch, but this is t
