I don't think any sane reading of the GPL would imply that it "taints" a host platform (via its libraries), whereas the inverse, non-GPL code linking against GPL libraries, certainly can be argued. Maybe that's something that they don't wan

I don't think it's useful to conflate "programmers and non-programmers think differently" with "non-programmers are unable to think like programmers". I'd say there are people better-disposed to learning to be a programmer[1] but practice

You're supposed to prune all extraneous data; usually you can drop off anything beyond 2 levels of quotation and in the cases you cannot, the text is probably well-structured enough.

The U.S. prices really are ridiculous – what about Canada? Also on the .eu side, I pay 13.90€/mo for an unlimited and uncapped dual-SIM data plan, i.e. phone and mobile broadband. The regular phone plan is an additional 0.66€/mo + 0.066€ pe

Absolutely not for me. Arguably, if all citizens had basic needs met (including "luxury" items that enable participating in society as equals – cell phones and internet connections, for example) and had equal opportunity to advance, that

I'm probably in the minority but when I see "save", I assume it's "saving my progress". In a user creation form, even just "create" is clearer than "save".

Been wary of Google for a long time and fortunately it seems to be catching on a bit. Sometimes searches are necessary if none of the other engines turn up anything, but I try to avoid them in all other contexts (including GTalk and Google

Some people enjoy programming enough to do it unpaid (and get some valuable lessons in how software is actually made at the same time, if lucky).

The docs were wrong for a long time, but looking back at the issue, there was a quiet turnaround in http://blade.nagaokaut.ac.jp/cgi-bin/scat.rb/ruby/ruby-core/... . So, hashes can be considered ordered in 1.9. It's a mistake to corrupt th

I'm more stunned by the price: I pay 20€ for unlimited and unrestricted data access with a double SIM (one mobile broadband, other for phone). And they want to charge more for other video access?

Defamatory speech is also protected to a degree because it isn't possible to weed out beforehand, but carries consequences and could be censored after the fact.

Understanding people is hard sometimes. If you yourself have managed to improve yourself in some way, it's particularly hard to understand why someone else couldn't do it too.

No, it's very easy to generalize: an overwhelming majority of people will get fat from overeating, some quicker than others. I'd think your condition is somewhere in the single-digit percentages. I've always been fairly lean – 176/70ish (5'

There is also cost of your time for the coffee and whatever may follow, as well as material costs (potentially high when dealing with upper-echelon), so it is not an outright win situation.
