I agree they were good, but the Cuba and the Iran deal both happened after Clinton's Secretary of State tenure, no? How did she make them happen?

I still use gevent any time I need async code. It's also easy to tack onto existing projects with its monkey patching. I've never seen a need to migrate away from gevent, even if it's inarguably a language hack.

I was actually just parroting claims of message arrival time/sync inconsistencies in this thread. I don't use the app too much, in part because nearly everyone I know uses Skype instead of Discord, but I've never personally e

Valid point. I personally like the UI/UX, except some of the channel management features. It took me some time to figure out how to set ranks and give permissions.

I think Discord is on a path to be a suitable replacement for IRC, Slack, and Skype. They still need some polishing, but once they fix some bugs and add good support for history and searching, I think it'll be fantastic.

I don't think YC's brand has been criticized much more than it has in the past. I think the Thiel drama is the worst they've had to deal with in the past year or two. Where have you seen more YC promotion?

I think there's a bit of a false dichotomy there. Some engineers are willing to work in a harsh, toxic environment if they think the founder isn't delusional and is actually onto something. I presume that's how Apple employ

The real confusing part is why this didn't happen earlier. Or, more likely, it did happen earlier but the attackers weren't properly weaponizing or "botkilling" / patching the devices?

I think avoiding the FOIA is bad (and possibly illegal, if intent is proven?), but not that horrible. The careless handling of classified information is worse, in my opinion.
