You could use the new AMD cards at least though right? I don't think Nvidia support will ever happen again though (I got burned by that, bought a 1060 right before they dropped Nvidia). I'm on a RX 5700XT with my Hackintosh, and i

Wow, I had no idea M1 doesn't support eGPUs. I was planning on buying an external enclosure for Apple Silicon when I upgraded; thanks for pointing that out.

I've only dabbled in GPU programming, but I think the issue is more serious than this. It's not really pointless churn. OpenGL was released 29 years ago, and the way GPUs work now vs then is massive. Apparently developers want low

Congratulations on releasing your book. I watched one of your talks about procedural generation[0] and really enjoyed it, thanks! Mentioning this here since the tutorial linked above has a lot of procedural generation content [0] https:&

(Speaking to the information we got in the US) This is wrong and way too charitable. They were worried that hospitals would run out of masks, and that was why the Surgeon General lied [0], and said masks weren't necessary. Fauci and ev

That was my guess too. Anecdotal, but I've noticed when I had someone not see me riding, the majority of the time I forgot to turn on my high beams. It's a huge win and I don't think it's bothersome to others before the

You see this in the comments here too. Everyone has to add a disclaimer to every statement about how (they think) git works: “As far as I know”, etc.

Is there a technical reason why induction ranges are so expensive? Out of curiosity I checked the two home improvement stores where I live, and the cheapest ones were $1,500+. An old fashioned smooth top electric range/oven starts arou

It's so nice to get APIs designed for Swift, they feel much nicer. I was expecting a SwiftUI replacement for NSTextView/UITextView that allowed using NSAttributedString(s) (or better yet the new AttributedString), but I can't

This mentality of "there will always be new exploits" bothers me. Yes, there will always be exploits, but we can do a hell of a lot better at preventing them than we are. We know how to design systems that are really hard to get i

The rumor is that a 14" MacBook Pro with the M1X (4 more cores, should be enough to beat most desktop processors in both single and multi-core benchmarks) is likely to be announced at WWDC (June 7th). See https://www.tomsgui
