Some neighborhoods are pedestrian friendly but yes generally not. Biking ain’t great but downtown is making progress. I’ll just add mine here: Pros: decent chef-driven dining scene, active downtown due to sports and conferences, affordable,

Edina= “every day I need attention”, if I recall from growing up near there. I disagree though. MN is colder but less windy so you get those crisp calm, blue sky winter days in Jan-Feb that make the winter more survivable. But you gotta be

I found it to be good for casual people economic history. Wasn’t overly “economics” in the technical sense.

This. It’s a great little system for such use cases. It is mainly falling out of favor for new development because it’s hard to find devs. But in terms of quickly getting automation equipment designed and running it’s a workhorse.

And the advantage is after covid there are a good number available 2nd hand (craigslist, fb) as some people return to the office and don't want it in their home anymore.

I’ve adopted a concept in the article of a “sabbath” from my smartphone. It stays plugged into its charger one day a week. I’ve found it to be quite refreshing.

Came to say just this. The linked article and the paper rest of the same false assumptions that Malthus made.

Coming from a major metro area in the Midwest, on my recent visit to San Fran you could get to MANY more useful things in a 15 min walk. Because of its density, I don’t think San Fran has a real transportation problem to speak of (for those

I have a PhD in Physics and got a little lost in the abstract myself, so don’t feel bad! It’s very dense sentences with pretty technical jargon. After a few re-reads and spot checking some forgotten condensed matter terms of art it made (so

One of the striking things about working in big enterprise is the number of policies , rules, guidelines especially in industries governed by industry regulators (eg ISO, FDA). Those with proper knowledge of the arcane bureaucratic systems

Best as we can tell, it wasn’t a hoax. It was a poorly understood experiment (and perhaps premature arxiv preprint). It’s very similar to the “faster than speed of light” puzzle from a few years back. It doesn’t harm scientific integrity.

Yeah but you know plenty of how science gets done if you go do science. The goal of a scientific paper is to concisely convey what novel thing has been discovered. It is not to convey how science gets done. PhD thesis are sometimes good pla

“my very long term relationships”?! i think you and I have a different conception of what long term is… Long term is like 30 years, not 5. What makes real long term relationships work isn’t common interests. It’s commitment.

Bluntly, this sounds exactly like a "as seen on tv" testimonial. No one denies the product was compelling / successful. It's just that fitness products are an incredibly fad-ish market. Something else will come along and

After just moving from a 2009 to a 2023 vehicle (both Ford), I agree. I’m overall happy with the tech improvements, despite the occasional bond-headed software implementation. I say this as someone who used to be a “stick-driving don’t put

I saw a bright green huge one in Portland, Oregon USA in the 2004-2006 time period. Only tool I had was my eyes and brain to recall it (and I can still recall it well). I told a few people about it and moved on. I’m guessing that’s the most

I just gotta say, banking has changed a ton since 1870. Then banks going bust was normal. Now everyone freaks out. It must be nice having a banking system where “bank loses my money” is not the major systemic risk.
