They did a decent job with credit cards eventually. Developers leaving won't happen, Apple and Google will cut a deal with big guys (Netflix, Amazon) and ignore smaller players (even Epic in this case)

Really at this point Apple control over app store is anti-competitive (and Google over play store), having to rely on community outrage to get stuff like this turned is ridiculous. They should create legislation to control access to all app

Depends on the kind of business, arround here it's quite common (cash/debit vs CC)

Yes they can, it was ruled anti competitive a long time ago - this is why you can often find cash only discount. The only place CC won is that you usually can't surcharge the price, instead you must call it a discount for cash, etc.

"Just code up 6 these screens, we already have everything working in sketch - how long could it take" Then you realize the "6 screens" actually turn in to a 50 step state machine that shares state between screens and cha

It bugs me how this is an argument in "app store is not a monopoly". App stores (both Google and Apple) have a huge profit margin which is based on abusing it's position and they are milking the fact that creating competition

Nonsense, it's not like it's one criminal group behind this or like these people are building a sustainable business model. Pay and ignore approach doesn't work at all long term.

I'd say the only way this would be better than min/max solution is that you can't accidentally flip it when writing the code - but IMO both suck at expressing intent, clamp reads unambiguously.

He was talking about JVM specifically, part of the benefit of WASM is portability, CLR is getting better in this regard with .net core but that's a recent development (I don't see how phone VMs compare) CLR also has an object mode

Like they say at worst WASM can make a mess of it's own data. The selling point of WASM outside of browser to me is native modules for other languages where you can whitelist the exposed APIs (and provide sandboxed versions) while havi

JVM is a different category of VM, it's memory model and bytecode don't fit languages such as C/C++/Rust at all ( AFAIK it doesn't even have unsigned integer operations).

What does reverse stock split have to do with it ? Buyback happens on the market and it removes stocks from circulation, if the demand is still there but buyback eliminated supply because people are holding on to the rest of the stock then

>price / share goes up, price / fraction of company stays the same That is obviously not true and he's pointing out why - if the market isn't very liquid, in this case not a lot of sales, price can jump nonlinearly.

He didn't say manufacturing output but jobs, a more relevant number for that argument would be total labor cost in the sector and it's change over time between two countries.

And very few will if this support cycle continues. Samsung will sell you a device they claim can replace your laptop [1] for >700$ and then add the external keyboard and that can go close to a 1000$ The next generation one can cost over

A step in the right direction but still a ridiculous situation for tablets now that they are pushing them into laptop replacement category, who would buy a laptop knowing that your >1000$ device is going to be impossible to update in 3-4
