Dated a journalist who would ask me to explain tech things. Aghast, I asked if this was how she wrote about everything. It was. She's now a management consultant which explains alot.

Due to start times, in a serverless environment that argument doesn't stack. Will probably change in the future though.

Thoughtworks are extremely fad driven. 10 years of that radar and it has become slowly clear that they use it as marketing to appear relevant.

As a brit it is especially hilarious, they rail at american monopolies only to want to replace them with their german ones. Yawn, laugh at the failures.

They wanted to do this for a while. Airbnb would make good money if it wasn't so bloated.

I've never done any analyis on the performance of them. I should, the dual nature of hydrogen usage (cooking and power) makes it very intersting to me. Hydrogen storage tank seems to be available but keeping it all under pressure, i&#x

Hydrogen stoves are in use in homes. What stops fuel cells being practical?

My previous role was scraping and automating the removal of offending items from auction sites. eBay sort of cared, the rest didn't give a shit. Amazon especially.

I would argue it's been like this for a long time. Hence managers who can't code and the infantilism of developers.

Yes. I often get very embarrassed responses from developers if I do it in real life, pretty good responses if I do it via twitter. I've been trying a similar thing with musicians and it seems to go much better when I do it in person

This. These are articles which have a long reach being written by people who are operating far beyond their understanding. Surely the guardian can dig up a quality technical writer to dig into this?

Thankfully I have a child and a partner. They really save me, I go to bed before 12 and get up to take baby to nursery. Weirdly after writing the original message, I had my first good day.

Terrible. I bailed out of a contract because not only was the working environment very poor, but I also recognised I was a long way from being useful there. I'm two weeks out and lost.

I would, but being in the middle of these two groups has left me mentally exhausted. I would delete the comment (I don't think it's helpful in hindsight), but I can't.

My last full time gig did this. They don't really talk about it, but it's a long established tech company in san fran. Saved alot of money doing so.

100% this. An unrelenting blaming of gender(or anyone factor) means you are unlikely to find out the whole picture. It's never simple, often composed over decisions made over many years. Luck, politics, hard work, perception, sexism. T

There is so much scope here for a hydrogen economy to take off. Run at 32gw all the time, when demand is 16gw, send that energy into generating hydrogen/and or batteries. It's the ideal use case for 'always on' nuclear.

We would have done the same in the UK, except it was foiled by an anti nuclear movement which is still informing the environmental movement today. It's a heart breaking own goal.

I've seen simnilar calculations putting it at £150k and assuming private schools. To be fair, I would probably agree with that number.

Massive resonance with this. I developed my friendships outside of IT and found a degree of (admittedly drug fuelled) distraction based happiness.

I've lost hours/maybe days to pulseaudio after daring to try configure an eq. Totally opaque and highlights why linux isn't ready for a mainstream audience.
